Our Story

From the "Perfect Life" to a deeper purpose.

Wanderer

Hello, I’m Oliver

Born in 1978 in Bremen – growing up between the Weser River and the North Sea, where water was always present, yet I never truly recognized its significance.

Maybe you know the feeling: following a predetermined path—education, career, success—only to one day stop and wonder: Is that really all?
For over 25 years, I worked in the IT industry. From employee to entrepreneur. Managing projects across Europe. Always keeping an eye on Silicon Valley, where the next big innovation was emerging. The classic path of a tech-savvy millennial—just born a few years earlier.

The moment that changed everything

Ten years ago, I started a family, and we moved to Switzerland. Everything was going according to plan: a beautiful house, children in private school, financial security.

And yet, I felt this... EMPTINESS. That nagging feeling that I should be using my energy and skills for something greater than the next business model or tech trend.

Do you know that feeling? When an idea wakes you up at night and won’t let go?

For me, that idea was WATER. Not as a business model, but as a call to my soul and a mission.

From the "Perfect Life" to a deeper purpose

In 2022, I began studying water — my way. Not in lecture halls, but out in the world. I read everything I could find. Attended international conferences in Stockholm, Frankfurt, and London. Spoke with experts and scientists, local communities, people suffering from water scarcity, and those developing innovative solutions.

The more I learned, the clearer it became: my seemingly perfect life in Switzerland suddenly felt too small and meaningless. Too disconnected from the real problems and opportunities that exist in our world.

To start a movement, you have to move

Since July 2024, my family and I have been traveling the world. We left behind our house, private schools, and security. Because how can I start a World Water Movement if I remain in my privileged bubble?

We went to Costa Rica to clean beaches from plastic and help sea turtles survive. We observed whales and dolphins whose habitats are threatened by pollution and climate change. We regularly immerse ourselves in hot springs, cold lakes, waterfalls, and rivers – deepening our understanding of how everything is interconnected. We talk to indigenous communities and document how different cultures see and experience water.

These past months have profoundly changed me. They’ve shown me: that I am more than my story. It’s about something much bigger.

Why a World Water Movement?

Between technology
and nature.

Between economic thinking and ecological awareness. Between 20-year-olds fighting for their future and 60-year-olds eager to share their knowledge.

This is the space I stand in. As an inspirer and wayshower. As someone who understands that solving the water crisis – one created by humans – requires both technological innovation and deep connection to nature.
I am neither the typical environmental activist, nor the purely profit-driven entrepreneur, nor the quiet scientist working in the background. I am a father of three daughters, wondering what kind of world they will live in. I am a Hanseatic and a global citizen, striving to understand the bigger picture.

I firmly believe: We can only solve today’s water challenges together

while rediscovering the true essence of water. Through a movement that unites us across generations, borders, and mindsets. Because water connects us all. It’s time for us to connect, too — for water.
